Transporter Platform
Match Making
In planning for KAGI Live, we decided to stick with KAGI's own self-scheduled, league-style format leading up to the top cut. With so many exciting events happening at KFC24, we didn't want players to feel that participating in KAGI Live might cause them miss out on the other goings on.
That's great - but we also understand that tracking down folks to play can be tricky. We're doing a few things to help with that.
First, each KAGI Live participant will receive an event pin. Wear it proudly on your shirt or lanyard to let folks know you might be down to rumble. These pins will also indicate which pod you've been placed in.
Second, there are #dis-live
and #logos-live
channels in the KAGI Live
section of the KAGI Discord server. Feel free
to use these channels to broadcast your availability and coordinate scheduling.
KAGI Live admins may also use these channels to advertise (optional) meetup
times for folks to congregate and jam.
Finally, there will be a (completely optional, but there should you want it) match making tool.
Beam Me Up
To access the match making tool, click on over here. You can also find it listed as "Transporter Platform" among our Gizmos.
You'll notice immediately that you're asked to sign in. Unfortunately, using this tool does require a Sloppy Labwork account - I'll mention again that this is completely optional to use, no hard feelings if you want to leave now 😁.
Still here? Once you're in, you'll be met with the screen below.
Do what it says and poke @jtrussell
to hook up your account with access to the tool.
Folks who pre-register for KAGI Live and have an existing Sloppy Labwork account.
Can skip this step.
And you're all set! Now, upon visiting the page you'll be met with a big friendly purple button that you can push to request a pairing.
The system will automatically pair you up with another player who has requested a match. You will only be paired with players in your own pod who you haven't yet played.
During the event, there will be a designated central meeting point for folks to meet at.
You may now close out this session by either indicating that you and your opponent played (the winner must still report the match using the event's report form), or by cancelling the pairing.
By selecting "We played" you're simply instructing the system not to pair you up with the same opponent just in case you both go looking again before the match is officially reported.
Use the "Cancel" button here if something came up and the match didn't end up getting played.
It may also happen that there was no opponent to pair you with when you requested a match.
When this happens, you'll go into "waiting" mode and the system will pair you with the next available opponent.
Conclusion
We hope you enjoy the tool, shoud you choose to use it - again, it is completely
optional. If you encounter any technical surprises don't hesitate to contact
@jtrussell
, especially if they're exciting surprises that involve cash you
found in a briefcase that wasn't technical-y yours.
When in doubt, always remember you can message folks through the KAGI Discord server or poke a KAGI Live admin.
