Have a Heart - Solution
Thanks to everyone who submitted a solution to our very first puzzle!
Some fun facts:
- While many submissions relied on similar ideas, no two were exactly the same! When putting this puzzle together we suspected there might only be a single correct answer, allowing for trivial differences - you all proved us very wrong.
- Of the solutions that weren't 100% accurate, the most common thing folks missed was that Strange Gizmo would blow up your artifacts as well as your creatures - often making for muddier discard and draw pile than was accounted for.
For those following along at home, we'll be showing two solutions here. Here's the deck list again for reference.
The Featured Solution
Our featured solution was sent in by a reader who goes by GoggleChild. Congrats, GoggleChild! You prize decks are on their way.
GoggleChild's solution also has the distinction of being the only to utilize Song of Spring for a beautiful Wild Wormhole finish!
Without further ado, let's jump right into the solution presented by GoggleChild.
Call Logos as your active house. Play Helper Bot and Standardized Testing then use both Library of Babels to draw back the Bot and the board wipe. This leaves you once again with an empty deck, board, and discard pile.
Play Full Moon and drop Fila the Researcher, gaining 1 aember thanks to Full Moon. Play Helper Bot to the left of Fila (2 aember) drawing Full Moon and then again wipe your board with Standardized Testing. Play Fila (3 aember) and Z.Y.X. Researcher (4 aember) to the left of Fila, be sure to archive Standardized Testing from the top of your discard pile before drawing with Fila. Now play Hexpion (5 aember) to the right of Fila, drawing the last card in your draw pile.
Play Strange Gizmo (6 aember) and Labwork (7 aember), archiving a Shadows card. Play Fila (8 aember) on the left of your battleline, and Helper Bot (9 aember) to the left of Fila, drawing Labwork.
Now play Chota Hazri soaking up the play effect of your second Helper Bot. After gaining your Full Moon aember and forging with Chota, you'll have 2 keys and 3 aember in your pool.
Play Labwork (4 aember) archiving another Shadows card, Cutthroat research (5 aember), and Song of Spring (6 aember) shuffling Chota into your empty draw pile.
Finish up with Wild Wormhole (7 aember) into Chota to forge your third and final key with an aember to spare!
Whew! I'll admit I wasn't sure where we were headed when that Gizmo went off! Using Song of Spring with an empty deck to set up Chota for Wild Wormhole was a thing of beauty. Well done, GoggleChild!
The Sloppy Solution
The second solution we'd like to share is the one we had in mind when posting this puzzle. It is much closer in concept to the majority of submissions we received and we wanted to give a nod to those lines.
Grab your lab coat, here we go!
Play Cutthroat Research (1 aember) and immediately use one of your Libraries to draw it. This feels like an awful waste but we're going to hit that first key on the nose and need a clean aember to start things off.
Play Helper Bot and Standardized Testing followed by Full Moon. At this point our discard pile is (from top to bottom) Full Moon, Standardized Testing, and Helper Bot.
Play Fila the Researcher (2 aember) and Z.Y.X. Researcher (3 aember) to the left of Fila. Archive Full Moon from the top of your discard pile before drawing with Fila, this leaves one card in your draw pile. Play Hexpion (4 aember) on your right flank and draw your last card. Now play Standardized Testing, which archives Hexpion and puts Standardized Testing, Fila, and Helper Bot in your discard pile.
Play Fila the Researcher (5 aember), Helper Bot (6 aember) to Fila's left drawinga card, and Chota (2 keys, 0 aember) to Fila's right drawing another. Use your second Library of Babel to draw the last card in your draw pile.
One last time, play Standardized Testing. Your discard pile now includes: Standardized Testing, Helper Bot, Fila, and Chota.
Play Fila the Researcher (1 aember). Then play Z.Y.X. Researcher (2 aember) to Fila's left, archiving Standardized Testing from the top of your discard pile before drawing with Fila. Your draw pile will be any two of Helper Bot, Fila, and Chota (2 aember).
Play Strange Gizmo (3 aember), Labwork (4 aember) archiving a Shadows card, and Cutthroat Research (5 aember).
Finally, play Wild Wormhole (6 aember)... and one of two things will happen: the Wormhole will either reveal Chota - in which case we gain a Full Moon aember and forge our third key - or it will reveal a Logos creature. If Wild Wormhole flips a Logos creature we play it to Fila's right, draw our final card, play Helper Bot if it wasn't already our Wormhole reveal, and finish with Chota!
And That's a Wrap
We hope everyone enjoyed our first puzzle! This one wasn't easy. We give a big thumbs up to all who sent in a solution and to GoggleChild in particular for their creativity.
See you around the lab!
